On the subject of websites

People tell me traditional websites are pointless and it’s all about social media.

Websites, I’m told, are static whereas social media is all about what’s happening in the moment.

But when I thought about it, the concept of a “home page” really struck a chord because it made me think about a website as a place that holds all the elements that a home would - past, present and future.

So when it came time to update my website, I thought why not create something akin to my studio space where the breadth and depth of what I do exists but also - in keeping with the central tenet I have adhered to my whole life be that in clubs, on the radio, at a festival or on a label - where people can congregate.

So we designed it that way using the concept of layers (or drawers) that contain all sorts of things to be discovered and enjoyed.

You will of course find the usual stuff - radio schedule, links to gigs and label releases, festival info, etc. - but this site is intended as a living space (to quote Trane) that celebrates 40+ years of community around music.

It will be a place where you can share memories and I can share thoughts, music and whatever else. The plan is to keep it steadily evolving over time so you can return to it when you feel the desire and find new things there when you do.

Hope you will find it an inviting place - stay tuned for updates here and look forward welcome along and thank you for being part of the journey.
